Genesco Upgrades More Than 1,000 Stores to Fujitsu TeamPoS 3000 XL2 Systems

Systems Deliver Increased Reliability, Significant Energy Savings and Reduced Maintenance Costs

Fujitsu (http://solutions.us.fujitsu.com) today announced that Genesco Inc., a leading North American shoe and headwear retailer, has successfully upgraded its point-of-sale (POS) infrastructure with the Fujitsu TeamPoS®3000 XL2 POS terminals in more than 1,000 stores. More than 2,000 terminals were upgraded in Genesco's Journeys, Journeys Kidz, Shi by Journeys stores and select Johnston & Murphy stores. Featuring the Intel® CoreTM2 Duo mobile processor, the Fujitsu systems offer Genesco increased reliability, significant energy savings and reduced maintenance costs, resulting in lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

  • The TeamPoS 3000 XL2 POS system is based on the dual-core Intel® CoreTM2 Duo mobile processor (single-core option available). By implementing the mobile version of the dual-core processor, Fujitsu offers retailers powerful processing in a POS system that is as much as 40 percent more energy efficient than desktop architecture.
  • The system also offers the advantage of laptop components, such as hard drives, that are shock-resistant and ruggedized for the retail environment.
  • The TeamPoS 3000 XL2 POS system features zero-ventilation side clearance. The systems have no side or back ventilation slots that require extra space, allowing systems to be installed flush against a back or side wall, maximizing valuable retail counter space.
  • In its Foothill Ranch, Calif., facility, Fujitsu configured and staged each Fujitsu TeamPoS 3000 XL2 POS terminal used for the Genesco retail store rollout.
  • After Genesco piloted three companies for installing the systems, Fujitsu was chosen because of its professionalism, technical proficiencies and ability to respond quickly during the installation process.
  • After an initial pilot project involving 65 store locations during the fall of 2008, the rollout of the Fujitsu TeamPoS 3000 XL2 POS terminals started February 3, 2009, and finished on time for back-to-school sales on July 31, 2009.
  • Fujitsu provided services such as project management expertise in coordinating and managing the installation team.
