Fujitsu Introduces Bluetooth-enabled Large Item Scanning with U-Scan Genesis Self-checkout

Metrologic VoyagerBT Bluetooth handheld scanner with U-Scan helps customers scan large items without cashier assistance

Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. announced today that it will combine Metrologic’s VoyagerBT® Bluetooth handheld scanning technology with Fujitsu’s U-Scan Genesis™ self-checkout family to enable simplified large-item scanning at the self-checkout. The solution will be demonstrated at booth #2467 at the FMI Show + Marketechnics 2008 in Las Vegas, May 4-7, 2008.

Fully integrated into U-Scan Genesis and complementing the systems’ Metrologic Stratos® bioptic scanner, the VoyagerBT Bluetooth handheld scanner allows customers to scan large items in their cart that are too heavy or too bulky to place on the self checkout security scales.

Software configuration flexibility allows customers to scan one large item at a time and alert the cashier to visually verify the item, thus progressing the transaction and avoiding unnecessary cashier intervention.
