Fujitsu Consulting Upgrades Macroscope - its Market-leading Methodology

Release of Macroscope’s new Portfolio Management Methodology and Agile Delivery Process modules will enhance executive decision-making through focus on performance improvement and time- to-market

Fujitsu Consulting

Edison, NJ, February 28, 2006

Fujitsu Consulting today announced significant enhancements to its market-leading Macroscope change management methodology. Macroscope version 4.6 will now include two new features - a Portfolio Management Methodology and an Agile Delivery Process.

The new Portfolio Management Methodology will allow CIOs and senior IT Managers to maximize the benefits from their investment in project and portfolio management tools. Fujitsu’s differentiated approach to portfolio and project management now provides the processes, roles and techniques required to truly improve business performance.

“Integrating portfolio and project management functionality into tools is not enough,” says Matt Light, Research Director, Gartner Inc. “Organizations also need to put in place the proper roles, skills and processes to succeed in this approach to improving performance.”

The key processes of Fujitsu’s Portfolio Management Methodology, which assist the organization in the selection and prioritization of work, include Program Opportunity Evaluation, Program Selection, and Active Portfolio Management. Macroscope 4.6 also embeds techniques that enable effective execution of the work and positions programs according to their relative financial worth, risk and business alignment.

The Portfolio Management Methodology is an integral part of Fujitsu’s successful Enterprise Value Management practice. According to Joni Mines, the Program Director for Value Management at the City of Edmonton, "This value management approach helps the City not only select initiatives based on value, but also achieve that value over time."

The second upgrade to Macroscope is a new Agile Delivery Process that enhances an existing and integrated set of IT system delivery life cycle processes. The Agile Delivery Process is based on Fujitsu’s experience on similar IT delivery projects. It combines project management discipline with an efficient engineering function that emphasizes the following:

  • teamwork and collaboration between solution delivery and empowered client teams
  • adaptation of projects to changing requirements,
  • emphasis on the completion of distinct, working components
  • short iterative delivery cycles, allowing early and regular feedback from the client

For more than 10 years Fujitsu has continuously evolved Macroscope to meet the needs of global customers. Many world-class organizations rely upon Macroscope’s integrated suite of business and IT methodologies to manage and prioritize their IT projects, accelerate project completion, accurately estimate project resources and lower the costs of IT and business projects.
