Quality

Fujitsu Network Communications is unique in the telecom industry because we manufacture many of the products we sell. We also maintain a complete supply chain dedicated to satisfying our customers, which allows us to deliver exceptional on-time delivery performance and meet strict quality standards. This commitment to quality is reflected in our culture of continuous improvement that permeates all facets of our operation and TL 9000 registration.
FNC is ISO 9001 and TL 9000 registered, which is an indication of our dedication to excellence in development, manufacturing and services. Plus, we are registered by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) to the internationally recognized ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standard.
FNC Achieves TL 9000 Registration
In January 2000, Fujitsu Network Communications, Inc. announced its registration to TL 9000, a telecommunications quality standard developed by "Quality Excellence for Suppliers of Telecommunications", better known as QuEST Forum. We were one of only 13 telecommunications companies to receive the TL 9000 registration at this early date.
QuEST Forum is a unique cooperative effort between telecommunication service providers and their suppliers working together to develop and maintain a single set of worldwide telecommunications requirements, including reportable performance and cost-based metrics for the industry. This endeavor was similar to efforts by the automotive and aerospace industries to develop sector-specific requirements using ISO 9000 as a baseline of service providers and suppliers. The QuEST Forum work groups combined the requirements of several telecommunications standards and created a common set of quality system requirements and metrics designed specifically for the telecom industry. This new quality system is known as TL 9000 (telecom industry’s extension to ISO 9001-2000), and lends itself to a more consistent approach to quality management worldwide.
Best-in-Class Processes
Planning and Development at FNC uses the flexible spiral model of development for introduction of new products. With this model, we are able to respond quickly to changes or implement new requirements late in the product life cycle with minimal impact to the schedule. Our development processes, which were recognized by the QuEST Forum as "Best-in-Class", were presented at various QuEST Forum conferences. These processes include:
- Reducing Time to Market through Product Development Innovations (2003)
- Conducting Project Post-Mortem Analysis for Improving Process (2004)
- Implementation of Project Gate Review to Improve Quality (2005)
