Integrated and intelligent collaboration

WITH A COLLABORATIVE PLATFORM TO SHARE REAL-TIME PROJECT INFORMATION - ENABLED BY FUJITSU
BioWanze S.A, part of the CropEnergies Group, produces high quality fuel from renewable resources. Their chief product is bioethanol – a biofuel made from grain and sugar beet.
The company has recently invested €250 million in the construction of a plant in Belgium, capable of producing 300,000 m² of bioethanol per year. This will alleviate dependence on fossil fuels and help meet targets set out in the EU Biofuel Directive.
Embarking on such a large scale project with numerous parties, it was clear that seamless collaboration and the secure exchange of documents between geographically dispersed teams would be imperative. Engineers, architects and developers would be sharing plans, maps, technical diagrams and financial plans on a daily basis. A simple email platform would not be robust enough to support this, provide adequate transparency or project governance.
After evaluating the market, BioWanze chose to deploy an Enterprise Content Management solution from Fujitsu. As well as hosting the solution, Fujitsu also helped define how to structure the volume of information, define user access rights, engineer decision processes and add extra functionality, such as integrated issue management. For instance, the system ensures that invoices are only issued once and sent to the right people in the right order for approval. This fast and easy approach ensures BioWanze avoids any contractual penalties.
The platform is currently holding 25,000 documents with an average of 3,000 separate items added each month.
