Oslo, January 30, 2019 – Fujitsu is leveraging its global systems integrator partnership with Microsoft to implement a new cutting-edge IT system for the leading Norwegian biorefinery Borregaard.
Borregaard produces advanced and environmentally friendly biochemicals that can replace oil based products and focuses on innovation and the smart use of technology to help drive new discoveries and further develop its biorefinery product portfolio. The company has signed an outsourcing agreement over three years with Fujitsu which includes the implementation of a Microsoft Azure hyperscale public cloud environment.
Fujitsu will begin seamlessly shifting Borregaard’s critical workloads to Microsoft Azure, with the aim of improving flexibility – while also saving costs on infrastructure management and operation. Fujitsu is implementing a hybrid IT model for Borregaard, which involves maintaining some applications on-premises at the company HQ in Sarpsborg, near Oslo, and at 20 sites in 16 countries around the world.
Lone Larsson, CIO at Borregaard, says: "We look forward to working with Fujitsu to launch next-generation IT services to all end-users with a global-scale delivery model. The partnership with Fujitsu is strategic to our IT operations and enables Borregaard IT to focus on new technology and digital transformation of our core business.”
Leonard Øvregård, Managing Director at Fujitsu Norway AS, comments: “We are helping Borregaard to accelerate its digital transformation journey by leveraging our long track record in integrating and managing complex hybrid IT estates and our expertise in building environments based on Microsoft’s hyperscale public cloud. We are confident that this will provide Borregaard with the right IT environment for future growth.”
The wide range of services, including service desk and remote support as well as data center services including hosted infrastructure, network and managed security services will be delivered by Fujitsu’s Global Delivery Centers. Fujitsu will start with a transition and transformation process that involves a full analysis of Borregaard’s existing infrastructure and application environment.
