News facts:
  • Fujitsu selected by Høje-Taastrup Municipality in Denmark as strategic digital transformation partner, in four-year initial contract with option for three further years
  • Decisive selection criteria in EUR 5.5m deal were price, quality and integration capabilities, with Fujitsu taking over operation of IT systems as well as support and maintenance of the municipality’s IT infrastructure and applications
  • Tender win marks the latest success in the expansion of Fujitsu’s public service outsourcing contracts in Europe
Copenhagen, November 29, 2018 – Fujitsu today announces that it has been selected as the strategic digital transformation partner for Høje-Taastrup Municipality, Denmark, in a four-year, EUR 5.5 million (DKK 40m) initial contract with an option to extend for another three years.
According to the municipality, Fujitsu was chosen based on the decisive selection criteria of price, quality and integration capabilities, following an EU tender. With effect from April 1, 2019 Fujitsu will be responsible for the operation of IT systems as well as support and maintenance of the municipality’s IT infrastructure and applications. This expands Fujitsu’s role with the municipality, for which it currently provides management information and financial systems.
For Fujitsu, the tender win marks the latest success in the expansion of its public service outsourcing contracts in Europe, with a growing number of municipalities recognizing the benefits of outsourcing IT infrastructure and applications. This summer, Fujitsu won a major outsourcing contract with the Municipality of Groningen in the Netherlands, and at the start of 2018, was selected by the City of Stockholm in Sweden as the new ICT service supplier for the city’s 780 schools and preschools.
In selecting an outsourcing partner, Høje-Taastrup Municipality chose to give itself greater control over supplier sourcing by organizing an independent EU tender, instead of an existing regional procurement agreement. This allowed the municipality to choose from a wider array of potential providers and to benefit from greater flexibility over evaluation criteria.
Per Aalbæk Nielsen, Director of Høje-Taastrup Municipality, says: ”We look forward to expanding our collaboration with Fujitsu, which we consider as our strategic co-creation partner, helping us drive the desired level of digital transformation for the municipality.”
David Lange, Head of Sales and Industry Leader for Public Sector at Fujitsu Scandinavia, comments: “Winning the contract to transform Høje-Taastrup Municipality’s digital capability is recognition of Fujitsu’s significant investment in its public sector offerings in Denmark and other European countries. We are one of very few global-scale ICT services and integration companies with the people, expertise and skills and the key partnerships with the hyperscale cloud vendors necessary to provide truly transformational hybrid IT capabilities. These characteristics underpin our ambition to become a trusted advisor for the public sector in Denmark, Scandinavia and across Europe.”
