THE POSSIBILITIES ARE INFINITE

Quality of Service: Automation

Fujitsu's Quality of Service solution automates routine, repetitive functions and decision-handling that would otherwise tie-up valuable expertise. This includes data capture, regular periodic reporting, problem detection and prediction. This allows you to concentrate your in-house expertise on important service-critical matters such as unique problem resolution and cost-effective decision-making.

The practical role of automation

In the current Quality of Service Management environment a significant amount of monitoring is required. It's no surprise then that automation of this process can play a critical role in delivering meaningful benefits. It is however useful to consider to what extent automation can and should be applied.

Fujitsu's Quality of Service Management system specifically targets modern distributed open environments. These environments are characterised by a rapid rate of change and an ever-increasing complexity - fundamental reasons why Quality of Service Management is necessary in the first place!

For the automated management system to be effective, specific information is required:

  • a knowledge of the basic principles or laws of the system being managed
  • data or measurement results reflecting the latest behaviour of the system

Unfortunately this knowledge and data is also subject to the rate of change and growth in complexity. It is therefore essential that the vast quantities of measurements are collected, analysed and transformed into knowledge as quickly as possible.

While computers can handle the routine decisions, experts will be required to make the unique ones - usually from limited information and by relying on their own mental rules-of-thumb or heuristics. It is essential that these experts are given information that allows for the best possible chance of success.

Fujitsu's Quality of Service Management automates the capturing, storing and processing of data. It takes care of all routine and understood repeatable decisions and identifies and highlights any unique situation. For each unique situation it presents all relevant information in a usable summarised format, making it possible for you or your experts to make the most informed and accurate heuristic decisions possible.
