U-Scan Self-Checkout
The Fujitsu U-Scan self-checkout system is the ideal solution for retailers determined to lower operating costs and improve customer service. Currently being trialled by Coles Myer in Victoria, the U-Scan self-checkout system operates like a conventional checkout lane, but it's the shopper - not the cashier - who scans, bags and pays for purchases, with minimal supervision from shop attendants. The system uses simple, widely accepted technology such as touch-screen menus and automated voice instructions to guide customers through the self-checkout process.

Fujitsu offers scalable, customised self-checkout solutions to meet your specific needs. U-Scan systems can easily handle express, medium- and large-volume orders, and can be resized on site or mixed and matched for maximum efficiency.
U-Scan1
The U-Scan1 is ideal for large superstores or supermarkets that have multiple departments. The free-standing self-checkout system provides shoppers with a quick and convenient method to check out their items in each department. Its compact size is also perfect for convenience stores, pharmacies and other retailers with limited space.

U-Scan3
The U-Scan3, designed for express checkout lanes and medium-sized orders, is equipped with a bagging platform that has the capacity for three bag racks. This unit requires only one attendant to supervise four stations, in less than 75 per cent of the space allocated to regular lanes.

Key benefits
- Increases throughput and checkout efficiencies
- Integrates seamlessly with existing real-time POS applications
- Minimises labour and staff turnover costs - retailers can keep more stations open with the same number of cashiers
- Deters shrinkage and human errorSaves front-end space - allows more room for additional checkout lanes or retail displays
- Maximises flexibility - solutions can be customised to meet your specific needs
- Generates a 9-12-month return on investment
U-Scan5
Like the one- and three-bag systems, the U-Scan5 terminal is a modular unit that can easily be upgraded. This unit offers the convenience of self-checkout with increased capacity. The bagging platform has room for five bag racks, making it ideal for larger orders.

U-Scan6 Carousel
The U-Scan6 Carousel features a rotating bagging platform containing six bag racks and the option to add a secondary bagging platform. The rotating platform provides shoppers with easy accessibility to the bag racks and limits body strain caused by reaching while bagging purchases.

U-Scan MAX
The U-Scan Max self-checkout is equipped with a dual takeaway belt that enables two shoppers to occupy a single unit at different stages in the self-checkout process. A divider placed along the centre of the takeaway belt keeps items separate, allowing one shopper to scan items while a second shopper bags items from a previous order.

U-Scan Kiosk
The Kiosk version of the U-Scan system is specifically designed for debit and credit card transactions, and dispenses cash as an added convenience for the shopper. The Kiosk model is perfect for remote locations, food courts, music departments, and as an alternative to an ATM. Its compact size is also ideal for convenience stores, pharmacies, and other retailers with limited space.
