Fujitsu Launches Online Environmental Readiness Assessment Tool
Sydney, 13 November, 2008 — Fujitsu Australia Limited is helping companies to proactively measure and progress their level of environmental sustainability with the launch of new online diagnostic tool that provides a snapshot of an organisation’s readiness.
The Sustainability Assessment Tool poses a series of questions about the company’s performance across a range of indicators, creating a visual roadmap of the organisation. This becomes the starting point to determine both how the IT Department and the entire enterprise align with overall environmental strategies and how they contribute to achieving measurable sustainability targets.
Fujitsu Australia’s Head of Sustainability, Alison O’Flynn, said the new tool grew out of Fujitsu’s own commitment to operating with a high degree of environmental responsibility and to supporting its customers in their green initiatives.
“While many organisations have expressed a desire to advance the environmental agenda, they often don’t know how to translate that into action and deliver sustainable Green initiatives. This online tool allows our customers to assess either their IT Department or the entire enterprise to determine the areas of greatest potential growth and improvement.
“Fujitsu has a long history of environmental sustainability and places a high priority on enabling our customers with tools and methodologies that help them to minimise their overall carbon footprint while leveraging new opportunities,” she said.
Guided by Fujitsu's consultants, customers can use the Sustainability Assessment Tool to outline their journey and techniques for achieving enterprise sustainability. The tool highlights various aspects of their sustainability process, from strategy, procurement and rationalisation through to efficiency and waste disposal. It also identifies potential risks, and supports the Fujitsu consultants as they develop appropriate mitigation strategies for customers.
“The world is increasingly demanding that companies get their house in order in relation to the environment, and the rewards will be greatest for those who lead the way on implementing measures to improve sustainability,” Ms O’Flynn said
“This new offering is designed to equip enterprises and IT Departments with the strategies and tools to make a tangible contribution to the organisation’s corporate sustainability goals and open up a range of new possibilities that go beyond cost savings.”
Fujitsu has just been named a leader in Gartner’s new report ‘Assessment of Global Low Carbon and Environmental Leadership in the ICT Sector’, launched on Wednesday 12 November, at Gartner Symposium.
