Rod Vawdrey. CEO Fujitsu Australia & New Zealand
“Some problems aren’t glamorous – they just need solving.” This is something we hear from our customers time and time again. They don’t want to see IT – they just want it to work.
Our customers tell us they want IT to do three things:
they want it to be reliable and ensure continuity of service
they want it to be flexible enough to change and grow with the business;
and finally they want it to operate efficiently, and preferably at a reduced cost.
While this is what is expected of IT services the facts are that sadly it is rarely delivered. It’s not news to you that the IT industry has been vilified for over-promising and under delivering.
I believe that this behaviour is symptomatic of an immature industry, and this needs to change if we’re ever going to meet, let alone exceed, customer’s expectations.
The good news is that there’s a movement within the IT industry that’s taking direct aim at these challenges. It’s called industrialisation.
The industrialisation of IT services and solutions aims to remove the needless complexity and cost to the way IT is delivered today. Earlier this month, Fujitsu launched its approach to industrialising IT – TRIOLE. TRIOLE originates from a Japanese-inspired management approach to continuous improvement which enables up to 30% greater efficiency, flexibility and continuity from IT services and solutions.
You can read more about TRIOLE and why it makes sense in this month’s issue of interaction. You can also read an article from Nicole France of Fujitsu Services in Europe who gives some further background on why industrialisation needs to happen in the IT services industry.
Also in this month’s issue, you’ll find a story about the opening of our new Fujitsu data centre in Brisbane and the appointment of Joanne Healey as General Manager, Fujitsu New Zealand.
Finally, as this is the last issue of interaction for 2006, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support over the past 12 months and to wish you a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year.
Regards, Rod
