Fujitsu Toasts New Product Integration Support Centre

Fujitsu Australia Limited

Sydney, November 07, 2005

Fujitsu Australia Limited today heralded the impending launch of its regional Product Integration Support Centre with a traditional Japanese sake ceremony at its recently-opened North Sydney headquarters.

Today’s ceremony was attended by NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for State and Regional Development, John Watkins, along with Fujitsu’s Corporate Vice President and President, Asia & Pacific Business Group, Dr Kyung-Soo Ahn, and Chief Executive Officer of Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand, Rod Vawdrey.

The new support centre, currently under final stages of construction at North Ryde, is a feather in the cap for NSW, which was awarded the facility by Fujitsu Japan in competition with other Asian nations. Once completed, the Product Integration Support Centre will provide application support to Fujitsu subsidiaries and their customers, right across the Asian Region.

“This is an important milestone for Fujitsu Australia and for NSW, since it represents a strong vote of confidence in the local operation, and an appreciation of the skills and expertise available in this part of the world,” said Mr Vawdrey.

“The centre will open on January 1, 2006 with 15 new positions in pre- and post-sales support and product management, but has the potential to grow substantially larger as demand for its services increases across the region. Key to our selection was the availability of skilled and experienced professionals with multi-lingual capabilities who could provide technical support in languages like Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Tagalog (Phillipines) and more.”

Mr Vawdrey said the continued support of the NSW Government, the state’s stable economic and political climate, advanced infrastructure, and ready supply of skilled knowledge workers were also important factors in it winning the Product Integration Support Centre.

“Australia has an impressive track record in providing expert technical support and that has clearly been recognised by our parent company. We have a strategy to target and win additional Fujitsu support centre operations for the region, further expanding this centre and creating new job opportunities for NSW,” he said.

Today’s ceremony also incorporated the official naming of “Fujitsu Centre”, Fujitsu’s brand new headquarters for the Australian and New Zealand operations at 15 Blue Street, North Sydney. The high-tech office facility in the centre of the North Sydney business district boasts a large red Fujitsu sign, the latest addition to the North Sydney skyline, and illustrates the company’s commitment to the region.
