Telecommunications business unaffected by closure of Fiji Office

Fujitsu Fiji Limited

Suva, Fiji, March 08, 2001

The Fiji branch of Fujitsu New Zealand will cease operations on 31st March 2001. The decision was made by Fujitsu management following a recent evaluation of computer related business opportunities in the Fiji marketplace.

The closure does not affect the strong and growing Telecommunications related activities of Fujitsu in Fiji and the Pacific. These have always been handled directly from New Zealand and this will continue unchanged.

Fujitsu is now preparing to manage the transition and will aim to keep the impact on existing customers to a minimum.

Gerhard Stemmler, manager of the Fujitsu Fiji branch, explains: "We are exploring several options concerning our contractual commitments to customers. Our aim will be to consult and work with our customers so that whatever option we select takes our customers' interests fully into account."
