Rod Vawdrey - CEO

Rod Vawdrey joined Fujitsu Australia as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director in 2003, responsible for regional operations across Australia and New Zealand. Since joining, Rod has implemented a strategy to integrate Fujitsu’s business lines in Australia and New Zealand; broaden the capability set; and align its’ services to better meet the needs of an increasingly competitive marketplace.

Today Fujitsu offers end-to-end ICT services combined with best of breed technologies and platforms under the market positioning of ‘Fujitsu Services Plus’.

Rod has over 25 years experience in the ICT industry, working with leaders in State and Federal Government, Health, Education, Retail, Financial Services, Telecommunications, Utilities and Manufacturing. In his immediate past role Rod was the Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Marketing – Retail Division NCR, with P&L responsibility with several thousand staff across four regions: Americas, EMEA, Japan and Asia Pacific.

Rod commenced his career in IT services as graduate trainee in 1978 gaining varied experiences, moving through sales to general management and ultimately leading businesses.

This background has allowed Rod the opportunity to work across R&D, engineering, product management, marketing, channels, professional services and consulting, as well as mergers and acquisitons. He also has considerable global and domestic expertise in understanding and managing the business services and technology needs of public sector and corporate customers with a keen ability to drive business outcomes that leverage technology.

Rod has focussed his career on business development, leading and coaching teams. He believes that you ‘lead people and manage things’ so if you hire the right team team and coach through example, talent will be released around you and success will follow. This management style, combined with a strong vision, passion for quality execution, good judgement, integrity and transparency is at the heart of his success.

Rod also believes organisational sustainability requires enterprises to consider outcomes for all stakeholders, particularly giving back to the community. At Fujitsu this is demonstrated through ‘Fujitsu Community Reach’ program that supports employees to help people in their community; and sponsorship of ‘Bell Shakespeare’ and its community theatre programs.

Through his asociation with industry bodies, Rod passionately believes that by supporting programs that focus on developing ICT skills Australia and New Zealand it will lead to an improved competitive positioning in the global ICT world stage.

Additional information: Rod is married with six children. His interests include golf, tennis and water sports.
