Free ServerView software simplifies physical and virtual server management

Fujitsu ServerView Resource Coordinator VE Preview provides single-screen overview of virtual machine resource allocation in blade server environments

Munich, March 29, 2010

Fujitsu today introduces ServerView Resource Coordinator VE Preview (RCVE Preview), an entry-level version of its popular server management software that helps simplify the management of physical and virtual servers within PRIMERGY blade environments.

As more organizations turn to virtualization within Dynamic Infrastructures to get the maximum performance from their IT environments, so the management of blade servers running hundreds of virtual machines becomes more complicated.

Fujitsu is reducing the complexity by introducing RCVE Preview, which gives IT administrators to a single-screen overview of all physical and virtual servers in Fujitsu blade environments.

Available free of charge, the software delivers an easy-to-monitor overview of entire blade systems, including detailed information on operating systems and virtualization software. In addition, the software allows for virtual machines to be labeled – providing a simplified insight into which services are running on which servers – and to be started, stopped and rebooted.

“Through providing an overview of blade systems, right down to a granular view of individual server workloads, it is easier to fine-tune a system – for example by moving virtual machines around – to ensure that the entire blade environment is running at optimum performance level,” says Rolf Strotmann, Vice President Enterprise Servers and Software at Fujitsu Technology Solutions.

ServerView RCVE Preview supports the central, uniform monitoring of physical and virtual servers in Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX600 and BX900 Dynamic Cube environments. The free software is fully compatible with the full version of ServerView Resource Coordinator VE (RCVE), which provides a comprehensive toolbox for the full management of entire environments of physical and virtual servers, including cloning of system images, high-availability and support for Fujitsu PRIMERGY rack and tower servers plus servers from other vendors.

Fujitsu RCVE Preview is now shipping free with all new PRIMERGY BX blade systems. The software can also be downloaded free of charge from the following link: http://ts.fujitsu.com/products/standard_servers/system_management/rcve_preview.html
